Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action has made a commitment to the construction and development of standard housing for the low income citizen through:
Weatherization, Heating Appliance Repair/Replacement Program
Rehabilitation, and Homeownership Program.
Among the services provided in these
programs are:
Home and heating repair systems
Air sealing, using a new technique to provide maximum energy conservation during extreme weather
Rehabilitating substandard housing - providing urgent repairs when funds are available
Repairing or replacing heating systems when needed
Offering educational workshops in energy conservation
Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action provides assistance in helping prospective homeowners clear their credit and apply for mortgages to build homes.
Housing Urban Development Housing Counseling
A Certified Housing Urban Development (HUD) Housing Counseling provides default and
delinquent counseling for homeowners
in trouble with their mortgage.
The counselor will:
Work with the client and the mortgagor to develop a payment plan.
Work with prospective homeowners to provide pre-purchase and post-purchase homeownership counseling.
When slots are available, individuals may sign up for Individual Development Accounts (IDA) to save toward purchasing a home. These accounts are matched 1:2.
